T-Shirts Youth Classes About Us.. Fencing Explanations Links to Cool Places Costs

Up

Blade Masters is a private club, founded in Fall of 2002 so that our kids in the area (Lincolnshire) would have a quality, local place to learn to Fence.  We ended up with 41 kids at our first meeting.  So we have 2 sessions every Wednesday night, with 2 instructors per session.  The early session from 6:30-8:00 is earmarked for the 5th/6th graders, and the later session from 8:00-9:30 is earmarked for the 7th/8th graders.   We are currently using the multi-purpose room of the Sprague elementary school.

We run an 8-wk 'semester', for 1.5 hrs, every Wednesdays (except a few Wednesdays when the school is closed, and they won't let us in, resulting in 8 classes, spanning 9 or 10 actual weeks).

Costs for youth or adult are:

    Tuition/Fee                                    $99 or $85*

Equipment Rental (mask/foil/jacket) $49      /semester. if you don't have your own

Glove($20)/UnderArmProtector($25)  $45      1 time purchase, from us or where ever.

* Discounted $14 to $85 for continuing students who pre-register and pre-pay by the deadline.  This encourages continuity and less stress on the club president.

So for most of our students, it is $134 or $149 for Tuition and Rental per semester, once they buy their glove/UAP (which need to be washed once in a while!).  Women will probably want to get a 'frisbee -style' chest protector ($5/pr which we can supply), and guys should provide their own cup.

Where:  Sprague Elementary School multi-purpose room. Sprague is on Riverwoods Rd., just south of Half Day Rd (Rte 22).

(The map shows how to drive in around the back where the multi-purpose room and parking is, but not the true address.)

FYI: The book we will be using as a guide is Fencing: Steps to Success.  You certainly do not need to buy it, but its a very good book and we have a few copies at the Club ($15), and we link  to the Amazon.com website here as a courtesy.
